she\u2019s in real bad shape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe who?\u00a0 What do you mean \u2018the two of you\u2019?\u00a0 Who else was hurt?\u201d Allen pleaded with the doctor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSasha,\u201d Krezner replied.\u00a0 \u201cShe\u2019ll be lucky if she lives through it, but then again, maybe she\u2019ll be luckier if she doesn\u2019t.\u00a0 We had our hands full with the two of you.\u00a0 I did the best I could to set your legs, but we lack the supplies to help Sasha.\u00a0 The best I can do is try to alleviate some of her pain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Allen looked around the former terminal looking for his friend, then down at his broken legs.\u00a0 He could not see her, but he could hear faint screams of agony coming from somewhere else in the terminal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnna and Decap have been quiet about what happened out there.\u00a0 They said you would fill us in on the details when you came to.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought I was going to die out there, doc.\u00a0 I was trapped and almost zombie chow.\u00a0 The next thing I know, I\u2019m here.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know how much help I\u2019ll be.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease, try to remember.\u00a0 It\u2019s important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were clearing a section of Solvay, over by the library.\u00a0 The streets were empty, so we made our way into the houses to clear and look for supplies.\u00a0 It had been a quiet morning, so we split up to speed through our sector.\u00a0 The owner of the last house I entered must not have left during the panic.\u00a0 The windows had been boarded up, all of the doors nailed shut, and the bottom of the stairwell was blocked by a piano.\u00a0 It looked like whoever lived there had plans to ride it out.\u00a0 I moved the piano out of the way and began to climb the stairs to look for supplies.\u00a0 Well, a few feet from the top, the stairs gave way.\u00a0 The homeowner must have been booby trapped them.\u00a0 I fell all the way through and ended up in the basement.\u00a0 The fall broke my legs.\u00a0 My top half ended up pinned under a large supply shelf that fell over on top of me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was dark in the basement,\u201d Allen continued.\u00a0 \u201cI had flashbacks to when I was kidnapped by that psycho and his sister.\u00a0 My mind was racing.\u00a0 I had to get out from under that shelf, but I couldn\u2019t get it to budge.\u00a0 And even if I could, I couldn\u2019t make it out of the house on my own.\u00a0 Any time that I tried moving, the pain from my legs shot through my whole body. \u00a0I called out for help, but no one came.\u00a0 The three of them were all in the neighboring homes.\u00a0 Slater\u2019s not going to be too happy to hear about that.\u00a0 I called out for help; I guess the noise and my screaming was what attracted the zombie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had been trapped for a couple of hours when suddenly I felt something grab at my leg.\u00a0 The pain was unbearable.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t tell whether or not it bit me, but then it began to claw at the shelf.\u00a0 I knew that it wouldn\u2019t stop until it made me its dinner.\u00a0 I fumbled around in the dark hoping to find something to fight it off with.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t see so I grabbed my lighter from my pocket.\u00a0 I was hoping my ZED would be somewhere within reach.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t.\u00a0 The creature continued to claw at the heavy wooden shelf.\u00a0 If I was going to survive, I was going to have to get creative.\u00a0 There were a few cans of spray paint near my left arm that had fallen from the shelf.\u00a0 As I passed the lighter by the cans, the warning stood out, \u2018Caution: Flammable\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Krezner sat silently, listening to every word of Allen\u2019s story.\u00a0 Decap entered the room after checking on Sasha.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI held the can in one hand with the lighter ready in the other.\u00a0 When I saw an arm reach under the shelf to try and get me, I unleashed a blue flame back at it.\u00a0 The creature quickly pulled back, but I kept spraying flames out towards its feet.\u00a0 It was burning good.\u00a0 Must\u2019ve been wearing some polyester.\u00a0 Those pants lit up like it was the Fourth of July,\u201d Allen said with a big smile across his face.\u00a0 \u201cThen the room filled with smoke.\u00a0 I must have passed out, either from the smoke or the pain.\u00a0 The next thing I remember was waking up here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Krezner stared at Allen with a look of shock on his face.\u00a0 After a long pause, the doctor was finally able to speak, \u201cOh, Allen, you didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDidn\u2019t what?\u00a0 Why are you looking at me like that?&#8221;\u00a0 Suddenly, it occurred to Allen what he had done.\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cOh, God, that wasn\u2019t a zombie in the basement, was it?\u201d\u00a0 He could hear Sasha\u2019s cries of pain echoing throughout the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>From across the room Decap very quietly said, \u201cSasha must have heard you calling for help.\u00a0 She tried to save you, but you panicked.\u00a0 Anna and I saw the smoke pouring out of the house and we ran in.\u00a0 Sasha had burns all over her body.\u00a0 She inhaled a lot of smoke.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t know you were in there.\u00a0 As I was carrying her out the only thing she could tell us was \u2018Help Allen\u2019.\u00a0 She probably saved your life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That night, Sasha&#8217;s cries of pain were joined by Allen&#8217;s cries of sorrow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cOh good, you\u2019re awake.\u00a0 How are you feeling?\u201d \u201cI feel like I\u2019ve been hit by a truck.\u00a0 What happened?\u00a0 How did I get here?\u201d \u201cI was hoping you\u2019d be able to answer your first question.\u00a0 The rest of your squad brought the two of you back;
