Howto: Audio

This is an open-document explaining how to set up various programs to subscribe or listen to our audio podcasts.

Winamp
Choose Podcast Subscriptions in the Local Media Pane.
Choose Add and paste https://zyracuse.com/?feed=podcast into the dialog that pops up.
Click add. Files will download automatically and check for new subscriptions every day, week, or month, depending on your preferences.

iTunes
You may need an iTunes account to do this; I don’t know. (Someone without an iTunes account please try this and see if it works.)
Click on iTunes Store
Search for Zyracuse
Find the button that says subscribe.
File will download automatically.
New files will download periodically.

Zyracuse.com
Choose the Audio Category from the popup or audio link at the top of the page.
Find the file you prefer.
Choose the appropriate option: Play, download (to be played from your hard drive with your preferred software) or play in popup window.
You will have to return to this page for each updates.

Linux
Run it from the command line. Be sure to use the -2 -f -G -69 -List -12894 and -not switches.
Do not use the -& switch unless you are using kernel 2.6.4 or you will have to grep the file using frk.
Check the checksum and compile from scratch.
Do not shower or go on a date during this time.
Complain that we do not offer the file in FLAC.
Take pride in how much cooler you are than a Windows user.

Cylon
Don’t do anything. The music will just appear in your head.

  1. He might have a better answer. There was a mixing board and some microphones. An HP laptop. A piano. Some Mexican hookers and a lot of tequila.

One of those sentences isn’t true, and I think it’s the first one.

  2. I used a Sony AW16G Sound Board/Audio Recorder with a single microphone. The audio out was ported into my laptop with a patch cord to the microphone jack where I used audacity to record the raw data. Then I compiled it with the effects and prerecorded intro.

Then I export as an mp3.
