Podpressproblem

I didn’t know there was an incompatibility between Podpress and WordPress 2.6. I suppose that I should have just known or done a Google search for “Are there problems with WordPress 2.6 and my plugins?” The list of changes in WordPress 2.6 are so insignificant that nothing could possibly have gone wrong. Well, it did. Apparently it crashes Internet Explorer 7.

Big Whoop. Who actually uses IE7? Oh. Apparently 86% of the Internet.

I’ve had to take podpress offline because some people continue to use Internet Explorer in spite of our feelings on the matter.

What does that mean in English? The podcasts will probably be messed up until Podpress is upgraded, hopefully over this weekend. Please be patient.

Speaking of podcasts, wouldn’t another one be jolly fun?

  1. I think this is fixed now, but WordPress 8.9 (the official patch) hasn’t been released yet. We’re not complaining–the work is done as freeware and it’s outstanding–but I want to remember to keep checking for the upgrade. The author has said it will be a major revision. We like revisions, especially for our stories here.

  2. Still waiting on that patch for WordPress. The guy apparently has a family. Can you believe it?

I think I’ve found a way around this. If you’re interested, see the forum. IE should really, really work now.

  3. I’ve switched to a plugin called podcasting–it’s not as good, but at least the site will work again. We’ll need to customize it a bit. While there is streaming, there are no volume controls or download capabilities. I’ll need to figure out how to make a download hyperlink.
